Membership Application

APPLY TODAY TO BE A MEMBER OF RICHARDSVILLE VOL. FIRE & RESCUE

RVFDRS is always looking for persons who are interested in helping their community in a variety of ways.  We need people who are trained or willing to train to become certified Firefighters and/or EMS Providers; certified Emergency Vehicle Operation Course (EVOC) drivers to operate the apparatus; certified in Swift Water Rescue; as well as Associate (Auxiliary) members to help with fundraisers and building maintenance.  No matter what your skill set is we have a place for you!

Below are descriptions of three classes of membership:

Active members - Active members shall be those members who are performing the duties of Firefighting and/or Emergency Medical Services.  This means that they have received or are to receive training to respond to calls, work sessions (public services/standby at events) or fundraisers, and abide by the orders of the officers and company Standard Operating Procedures.  All active members shall be at least eighteen (18) years of age.

Associate (Auxiliary) members - Associate (Auxiliary) members shall be those members who desire to serve the company in any capacity other than Firefighting or Emergency Medical Services.

Junior members - Junior members shall be those between the ages of thirteen (13) and seventeen (17) who are in training to become active members or who otherwise are selected to assist the members.  Those under the age of sixteen (16) are not allowed to ride on responding equipment.  Those over sixteen may respond on emergencies if accompanied by an active member and have received written permission from a parent or guardian to do so.

All members shall be required to attend at least seven (7) of the twelve (12) regularly scheduled monthly meetings held at the RVFDRS fire station and perform four (4) hours of service per month in any capacity for the company.  Active members have the added primary responsibility to respond to emergency calls and the requirement to attend a majority of training events held per year.

Any person desiring membership in the company must submit a membership application and will be subject to a background investigation.  All new members will remain in a probationary status for the first ninety (90) days after their application has been approved by the general membership.
